Livermore materials scientist Kate Elder received the Fulbright-VTT Award in Science, Technology, and Innovation. As a Fulbright U.S. Scholar, Elder will conduct research at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland for her project, entitled “Establishing Process-Structure Links During Additive Manufacturing of High Entropy Alloys,” building on an earlier collaboration with the VTT.
The Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (SIAM) selected Livermore computational mathematician Ulrike Meier Yang as a 2024 Class of SIAM Fellow. Yang’s work on parallel algebraic multigrid methods and associated software earned her the organization’s highest honor, alongside 25 other new SIAM fellows. Her research has focused on developing numerical algorithms for parallel computers, implementing them into efficient software, and analyzing their performance.
