Lawrence Livermore scientists Daniel Casey, Daniel Clark, and Raymond Smith have been named 2024 American Physical Society Fellows. Casey was selected for his contributions to understanding the stagnation conditions required to achieve ignition; Clark was selected for his contributions to inertial confinement fusion state-of-the-art implosion modeling; and Smith was selected for pioneering dynamic ramp-compression experiments on high-energy laser facilities, which resulted in significant discoveries in high-pressure materials physics and planetary science.

Félicie Albert, a Livermore scientist and director of the Jupiter Laser Facility, has been elected to serve as vice chair of the American Physical Society (APS) Division of Plasma Physics Executive Committee. A member of the APS since 2009, Albert will serve this four-year leadership commitment, working across subdisciplines, building an inclusive community, and focusing on outreach to promote plasma physics to the greater public. She also looks forward to developing new working relationships and bringing increased visibility to Livermore.
