HPCwire has named Principal Deputy for Computing Lori Diachin among 35 Legends for 2025 in high-performance computing—an honor bestowed on pioneers, visionaries, and champions in the field. As a former director of the Exascale Computing Project, Diachin promoted a national initiative for a capable exascale ecosystem.


Lawrence Livermore staff scientist Sichi Li has been appointed to the JACS Au Early-Career Advisory Board. JACS Au is an open-access journal of the American Chemical Society. Li tracks research trends in polymer degradation science for energy and critical materials recovery applications.


The American Association for Crystal Growth has recognized Livermore materials scientist Luis Zepeda-Ruiz with the [Tony] Gentile Service Award for long and meritorious service to the crystal-growth community. Zepeda-Ruiz’s work focuses on morphology and surface evolution during crystal growth, phase transitions, defect evolution, and nucleation. 


Laboratory Director Kimberly Budil has been included in the 2025 Forbes 50 over 50 list highlighting people who improve the lives of all Americans. Forbes noted highlights of Budil’s leadership, such as the first demonstration of fusion ignition and installation of El Capitan, the world’s fastest supercomputer.
